IS HEALTH CARE DEAD?
February 6, 2010 · Leave a Comment
[Translate] Is President Obama breaking another campaign promise? Reportedly on Thursday, after Republican Scott Brown was sworn in to replace Edward Kennedy breaking the Democrats filibuster proof majority in the Senate, President Barack Obama made the following statement with regard to health care reform: “… if Congress decides we’re not going to do it, even after all the facts are laid out, all the options are clear, then the American people can make a judgment as to whether this Congress has done the right thing for them or not, and that’s how democracy works. February 6, 2010 · Leave a Comment
[Translate] —Transcipt Follows— Remarks of President Barack Obama As Prepared for Delivery Weekly Address February 6, 2010 Even though our economy is growing again, these are still tough times for America. Too many businesses are still shuttered. Too many families can’t make ends meet. And while yesterday, we learned that the unemployment rate has dropped below ten percent for the first time since summer, it is still unacceptably high – and too many Americans still can’t find work. But what we must remember at a time like this is that we are not helpless in the face... [Read the full story]

Top UN environment official defends conclusions of landmark climate change report
February 6, 2010 · Leave a Comment
[Translate] Himalayas 6 February 2010 – The great weight of science still supports the findings in a landmark 2007 report from a United Nations-backed panel of experts that global warming is man-made, the head of the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) said today following recent attacks from climate change sceptics over a mistake in the assessment. Defending the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) against criticism for a mistake made in its 2007 report over the rate at which the Himalayan glaciers would melt, UNEP Executive Director Achim Steiner said that the panel has drawn upon... Resolving to…
January 6, 2010 · 1 Comment
[Translate] Just about a week into the New Year now, I find myself reflecting on past New Year’s resolutions. I can’t seem to remember any though I’m sure there have been some. I like to take this resolution thing month by month; maybe that’s why I can’t remember any specific resolutions. As our hockey rink stands frigid and skateable, I am thinking of adding a bit more physical exercise into my years, not just this new one. As most people will attest to, more activity makes you feel better and gets you out and about. It may even shed a few pounds for you if you remember not... [Read the full story]

Blair faces the inquiry… Nothing really changes.
January 30, 2010 · 2 Comments
[Translate] You would think that Tony Blair appearing at the Iraq inquiry would make for an interesting day of viewing and lead to some serious writing on my part… Neither of the two proved to be true. Instead he coasted through the questions, answering them regardless of the questions… If that makes sense. He waved his arms about as some sort of childish distraction, and by all accounts, it seems to have worked. The BBC circled the building like the horrid vultures they are, gathering up bereaved parents and family members of those killed in action and paraded them on national... [Read the full story]
